Biography

I am a Research Fellow and Health economist at Queensland University of Technology. My research program is focussed on embedding rigorous economic evaluation within clinical trials and health services research studies, with focus on obesity & diabetes. I have a career total of over 60 peer-reviewed publications in renowned international journals, including The Lancet, Diabetes Care, Obesity Reviews, JAMA Surgery, BMC Medicine, and Value in Health. Of those, 28 were published since 2020 (11 as first & 2 senior author). These contributions have earned >1600 citations with a h-index of 22. One of my early work synthesised evidence from 101 studies on cost and cost-effectiveness of bariatric surgery, published as the editor’s choice in Obesity Reviews, and has been cited 89 times since 2020 (top 5% cited globally), including by the U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to guide federal budgetary planning for Medicare (https://www.cbo.gov/publication/60441).
