My name is Yuhan Zhang. I am a master's student from the Peking Union Medical College. I recently received my admission to a Ph.D. program. My mentor is Professor Zhiwei Yang, who is an expert in metabolic diseases. Diabetes is closely linked with glucose reabsorption in the kidney. My project investigated SGLT2-mediated renal glucose reabsorption. We discovered that gastrin and its receptor, CCKBR, play an essential role in regulating SGLT2-mediated glucose reabsorption, identifying renal CCKBR as a promising therapeutic target for diabetes. This work was published in Diabetes & Metabolism Journal last year, and I was proud to be the co-first author.
